メールの主語には細かい注意が必要

英語は日本語と違って、常に主語を必要とします。そのため、メールを書くときには主語に気を付けることも大切です。
例えば「先日頂いた見積もりについて、質問があります」と書きたいとき。

1. We have a question about the quote you shared with us the other day.
2. I have a question about the quote you shared with us the other day.
3. We have a question about the quote you shared with me the other day.
4. I have a question about the quote you shared with me the other day.

といったパターンがあるでしょう。

1. 見積もりが「私たち」に提出され、「私たち」が質問したい場合。
2. 見積もりが「私たち」に提出され、「私」が質問したい場合。
3. 見積もりが「私」に提出され、「私たち」が質問したい場合。
4. 見積もりが「私」に提出され、「私」が質問したい場合。

どれも非常に細かい部分ですが、誤解やミスコミュニケーションを避けるには大切な点です。
